Geography
Our Geography curriculum is taught in order to; promote curiosity and a fascination of the world, encourage children to become responsible global citizens and equip them with the skills to navigate and explore. At St Patrick’s, Geography sparks curiosity in the children’s local area, whilst equipping children with knowledge about the wider world. As pupils progress, their locational and geographical knowledge deepens and children will be able to apply their knowledge of key human and physical features. Every child is taught a set of skills through first hand experiences in real life settings from Reception right up to Key Stage 2. Geography at St Patrick’s is challenging, motivating, topical and fun.
We want pupils to develop respect for the environment and people who are different to themselves. As pupils study geography, they encounter different societies and cultures, which helps them realise how nations rely on each other. It can inspire them to think about their own place in the world, their values and their rights and responsibilities to other people and the environment.
